Outsiders: Exploring the Red Planet
Welcome to our journey into the future, where humanity has set its sights on the stars, particularly the enigmatic planet Mars. As part of our Analysis and Development Project course, our team embarked on an exciting mission to create a Martian startup aimed at enhancing life on the Red Planet.
After much deliberation and brainstorming, we settled on our flagship product: “Outsiders.” Born out of the desire to alleviate the monotony of life within the Martian colonies, Outsiders is an innovative application designed to encourage exploration beyond the confines of the settlement.
The concept behind Outsiders is simple yet profound: to enable Martians to track and log their location whenever they venture outside the colony. But it’s more than just a GPS tracker. With features like satellite tracking, an emergency button for safety, and curated recommendations of pre-explored locations renowned for their scenic beauty, Outsiders is a comprehensive solution for adventurous souls craving a taste of the Martian wilderness.
The allure of Outsiders lies not only in its practical functionality but also in its ability to foster a sense of community among Martian settlers. By sharing their exploration logs and discoveries, users can connect with fellow adventurers, exchange tips, and inspire others to embark on their own expeditions.
Now, let’s delve into the technical intricacies of our project. Our proof of concept (POC) for Outsiders is a web/mobile client built using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, ensuring compatibility across different platforms. On the backend, we employ a Java server powered by vert.x, facilitating seamless communication between the client and the database.
But our journey doesn’t end here. In addition to the technical aspects, we’ve also developed a comprehensive business case, a captivating marketing website to showcase Outsiders’ features, detailed schematics outlining the application’s architecture, and wireframes to guide the user interface design process.
Join us as we venture into the unknown, for on Mars, the possibilities are limitless, and the adventure never ends.
